Experience/Journey

My 30-Year Journey in Education

Early Career

My journey began in 2001 at Homaho in the Central Region during my national service, followed by meaningful work at the Kumasi Cheshire Home, where I supported discharged psychiatric patients through creative art-based therapy.

I later taught at:

Krobo Girls Senior High School
Various special educational institutions across Ghana

New Horizon Special School

My foundation in special needs education began here, where I:

Taught art
Became Educational Coordinator
Oversaw teacher training, curriculum planning, student schedules, and parent communication
Developed individualized autism schedules
Introduced projects such as a mushroom farming PTA project
Contributed to projects such as the Mushroom farm
Initiated the first Sibling workshop at New Horizon

COLEDIC & MULTIKIDS Academy

At COLEDIC, I served as Deputy Head of School, managing staff development and learner needs. Later, I became Head of School at MULTIKIDS Academy (until March 2013), leading academic and operational growth.

Founding The Epicentre — 2014

I established The Epicentre, a special needs school in Gbawe, reinforcing my commitment to inclusivity and educational development.

Current Work — AACT Centre

Since 2015, I have served as Educational Director at the Autism Awareness Care and Training (AACT) Centre, where I:

Design and implement curriculum
Train educators
Oversee educational performance standards
Teach art to children with communication challenges

My teaching extends to Awaawaa2 (Dansoman & Haatso) and the AACT Centre, where I use art as a tool for communication and emotional development.

Advocacy & Public Engagement

I am passionate about raising awareness and upholding the rights of persons with disabilities. My advocacy work includes participation in seminars and training programs in:

My Motivation

I believe deeply that every individual — regardless of ability — has strengths, potential, and a unique voice. My work is driven by the desire to help learners gain confidence, discover themselves, communicate, and grow.

Instrumental in establishing The Epicentre...and visiting many regular schools in the catchment area to introduce the center to them.

Inclusion is not just my profession — it is my calling.
